PC &
laptop sales, upgrade and repair
Over time windows slows down and becomes inefficient and annoying to
use. There are lots of reasons for it, some include:

* Fragmented and bloated registry
* Spyware, malware or virus infection
* Windows writes temporary files during its operation which need to be
deleted periodically
* Fragmented disk drives
* Insufficient memory for currently installed applications
Windows
gets updates and Service Packs, it's constantly changing. That computer
with 256MB of memory ran XP lovely when it was bought, but XP has got 3
service packs and tons of updates since and now requires at least 1GB
(1024MB) just to tick over smoothly with any program running.
Memory upgrades are one of the best ways to breath life into that PC. We will source the best hardware
upgrades for your particular needs.
You
can't run Windows safely without an anti virus. You need an anti virus
that’s efficient, that does its job without interfering and you
certainly don't want one that nags you. We will provide you with the
latest, most efficient and cost effective anti virus solution.
Bring your PC or laptop
to us and we will restore its running condition to the state it was in
when you purchased it.
TV, home
entertainment, gaming and home server systems
A Home Theater PC (HTPC)
or Media Center is a purpose built computer intended as the hub of a
household’s media needs. A HTPC is a fully functional computer that’s
specifically designed to playback music, movies, TV shows, and videos.
You can also surf the internet and play computer games. They can even
get added digital video recording functionality with a TV tuner card.
Also, since it’s an entertainment system, you can control the PC
remotely with added peripherals. Our main aim when building a HTPC is
to keep it small and keep noise down to a minimum.
A Media Server
is a device that simply stores and shares media. One benefit of a media
server is that you can store all of your music, movies, TV shows, and
videos in the one place. Hide it in the attic or under the stairs. A
media server can be setup with hard disk redundancy, where data is
copied to more than one drive. By placing data on multiple
drives, I/O (input/output) operations can overlap in a balanced way,
improving performance. With media servers any number of devices can be
used as front ends, consoles, laptops, mobile phones etc.
IPTV stands
for internet protocol television, which is a means of transporting
Audio and Video (AV) and data information across a digital IP based
network. This could include Ethernet LAN, internet, or WAN. AV sources
can be streamed across existing networks to PCs or TVs with the
addition of set top boxes (STB). IP Based TV technology can be one to
many (Multicast) or one to one (Unicast). Multicast streams offer the
most efficient form of transmission as the bandwidth can be shared
amongst all of the users wishing to view that particular stream, if the
stream is say 4Mbs only that amount of bandwidth will be used
irrespective of the amount of viewers (provided the network is
configured correctly). If the channel is not being viewed no bandwidth
is consumed.

Discreet cabling, networking and wireless solutions
Wireless
devices have limited range and loose signal through walls and
obstacles. A wireless router should always be in the room its used
most, I’ve mine in my sitting room behind the TV. Adding a more
powerful wireless device can sometimes just make things worse, there's
just no getting around a two foot thick wall. Sometimes its best to
cable to the other computer, or even cable and add a second device the
other side of the building to cover the uncovered areas.
We can evaluate each
customers situation and assess whats needed for the best possible
coverage.
Gamers
talk about ping, ping refers to the network latency between a player's
computer (or console), and either the game server or another client.
Your ping is the number of milliseconds it takes for your device to
send a signal to the server, and receive a resulting answer. Having a
low ping is always desirable because lower latency provides smoother
gameplay by allowing faster updates of the game data. As far as ping
times go, the lower the better, 20 to 40 is good, but anything less
than 75 is ok. Higher than 100, and you will start getting packet loss
(data loss), and begin to cause lag for other players. Its best to
connect gaming devices with an ethernet cable, wireless only adds more
latency.
We can discreetly run
cables from Your modem/router to individual devices to suit a customers
needs.
Home security, IP cameras and wireless point to point links
IP
cameras (Internet protocol) are CCTV
(Closed-circuit television) cameras that use Internet Protocol to
transmit image data and control signals over a fast network link.
Cameras that do this are like webcams (which can only operate when
connected to a computer), but the network camera has its own IP
address, is connected directly to a network and can be placed wherever
there is a network connection. An IP camera can be configured to send
video for live viewing and/or recording.
Remote locations
can be linked with a wireless point to point link consisting of two
wireless transmitters. The range of a wireless link is determined by
many factors. With clear line of sight and no interfering factors such
as background noise, trees and buildings, they can work very reliably
with end points 5-10km apart. Line of sight is very important, if you
are unable to see one end of the link from the other it is likely that
the link will not work very well, depending of course on what is in the
way.
We can tailor build
wireless links and customise security equipment to suit each customers
requirements.
Data backup, protection and recovery services
Whether you're a home user or own a large business securing your data
in today’s world is a must. One day you can be infected with a virus or
your hard drive can just stop working. Online backup is where the
valuable data on your computer is backed up to servers on the internet.
In a disaster your data can be restored from the servers so that you
have access to it again. We can provide solutions that allow You to go
back in time and see your files and directories, as they were when your
backups happened and schedule your backups to automatically run at a
specific time, on a recurring basis.
Data recovery is the process of salvaging data
from damaged, failed, corrupted, or inaccessible drives and media.
Recovery may be required due to physical damage to the storage device
or logical damage to the file system that prevents it from being
mounted by the host operating system. All our data recovery work is
carried out on a no recovery – no fee basis.
Broadband & VoIP configuration and diagnostics
VoIP
(Voice over Internet Protocol) is simply the transmission of voice
traffic over ip-based networks. VoIP has a lot of advantages over the
traditional phone system. The main reason for which people are quickly
turning to VoIP technology is the cost. VoIP is cheap, very cheap, but
most people use it for free. There are many internet VoIP services
available that you can just download and install on your pc or laptop,
Skype, Google Talk, iChat, Msn. These even allow video calling if you
have a webcam.
There are also SIP
providers (Session Initiation Protocol) like Blueface.ie and
Freespeech.ie who can give you a geographical phone number (01, 094,
098 etc) and offer unlimited calls for very little money. In both
cases, a softphone (software program) must be configured to register
with the SIP provider or a SIP-compatible phone or router are required.
There are numerous types of broadband:
*
Dsl through your phone line
These
vary in quality, some are great, others are not so good and can't be
depended on. A good connection will greatly benefit your family or
business, a bad one will make you tear your hair out.
We can setup and optimise
your local network for best quality VoIP services. We can also help
with your broadband issues.
